BAFTA Cymru has revealed the winner of its 2016 Games Award, honouring the best development talent in Wales.
The winner of the top honour was Rantmedia with its mobile title TV Sports Soccer, fending off competition from Wales Interactive’s Soul Axiom and Thud Media’s Toots Race.
However, Thud Media didn’t go home empty handed. The studio picked up three commendations for its educational title Boj Smoothies, in which kids improve their memory and reactions, identify colours and follow patterns while making smoothies.
Boj Smoothies won commendations for Artistic Achievement, Gameplay Design and Sound & Music, beating BBC’s Doctor Who Game Maker, Squarehead Studios’ Star Ghost and Cube Kids’ Teletubbies.
“Huge congratulations to the winners of our Best Game Award and commendations this year,” said BAFTA Cymru director Hannah Raybould. “We are very proud to support the growing games industry in Wales and highlight the achievements of the increasing number of companies starting up and relocating to Wales.”
