Red Bull acquires kaSing’s R.B LoL team, rebrands it Red Bulls

Red Bull have announced the acquisition of a League of Legends team, who will rebrand as the Red Bulls. Seriously.

It’s not a big change for the team, who previously went by the initials R.B. The team has performed well of late, and recently secured a slot in the twelve team qualifier for the EU Challenger Series Summer Qualifier, with the winner of that qualifier getting a spot in the Summer Split of the EU Challenger Series.

The team is captained by British success story Raymond ‘kaSing’ Tsang, with Park “Thai” Kwon-hyuk, Kim “Moojin” Moo-jin, Felix “Magifelix” Bostrom, and Tarik “Sedrion” Holz rounding out the roster.

Still, the upcoming CS qualifiers are likely to be the hardest challenge the team have yet faced: also in the qualifiers are Millennium, Team Kingguin, Tricked eSport and even Team LDLC, several well-known organisations that are just getting into League of Legends.

Should the team make it into the challenger series, they’ll then be trying to push through to the LCS, another struggle. From here, the Red Bulls are going to be fighting uphill all the way to worlds, each challenger tougher than the last. Still, Tsang has experience, he played in the LCS for several years with a variety of teams, and had a short stint in 2015’s Worlds playing with H2K.

This isn’t the first time the energy drink brand has gotten involved in esports. They’ve sponsored many teams and players, and run their own website, Red Bull eSports. However, naming a League of Legends side after the brand is a clear sign of commitment. Red Bulls have a big struggle ahead on their journey to the LCS, and it’ll be interesting to watch.
