Sexually explicit dialogue cut from DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition

Capcom has confirmed that a particularly explicit line of sexual dialogue from DmC: Devil May Cry has been removed from tomorrow’s Definitive Edition re-release.

Eurogamer reports that a scene involving villain Mundus and mistress Lilith had originally seen the latter speak the words: "The world is at last your bitch, as am I. Nothing left but to grab it by the hair, bend it over and…”.

The revised version, however, ends at the first full stop.

Chief creative director at developer Ninja Theory Tameem Antoniades told the site that the omission is not down to the sensitive nature of the content and is instead linked to pacing, and an internal dislike for how the scene was originally constructed in the first place.

"It wasn’t a case of censorship as there are far more suggestive scenes in the game. We felt that scene in particular drags on a little bit for the opening sequence and frankly, we didn’t like the line,” he insisted.

"Those few seconds were irrelevant to the scene and is covered effectively in a later scene where Mundus is metaphorically shafting world leaders. For the Definitive Edition we took the opportunity to review all aspects of the game, and change things that we didn’t like or couldn’t add in time. As part of that, we also added a brand new cutscene that didn’t make it in time for the original game."

DmC: Devil may Cry Definitive Edition will be released on PS4 and Xbox One tomorrow (Tuesday March 10th).
