The Last of Us 2 ‘on ice’ as Naughty Dog concentrates on Uncharted 4

While The Last of Us 2 will surely happen, an announcement in the near future now sounds very unlikely.

With developer Naughty Dog working to get PS4 exclusive Uncharted 4 out in time to meet its 2015 release date, all other projects have now been put aside, the studio told Game Informer, as reported by GameSpot.

"We’re 110 per cent in Uncharted 4 territory now,” Naughty Dog’s Bruce Straley said. Blinders on, make this awesome."

Neil Druckmann, when asked about the demand for a Last of Us sequel, added: "We totally get it, because we have those same feelings as well. We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now while we work on Uncharted 4."

However, Druckmann also said that it’s a question of if” The Last of Us 2 will ever be made and said those who feel it is inevitable are making a big assumption”.

What is certain, however, is a Last of Us movie, with Sony pressing ahead with plans and Druckmann penning the script. Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the HBO series, has been widely tipped to play Ellie.
