Respawn chiefs to sit on a â??Building Blockbustersâ?? panel at the US-based event

West and Zampella appearing at QuakeCon

Respawn Entertainment heads Vince Zampella and Jason West are confirmed to appear at QuakeCon 2010. The occasion will mark the first public appearance of the duo since they were fired from Activision-owned Infinity Ward earlier this year.

The two men will be appearing in a panel session titled “Building Blockbusters” alongside id Software’s lead designer Tim Willits and Bethesda’s executive producer Todd Howard.

Speculation is circuling the internet as to weather the men will discuss their current work at Respawn, or if they will focus on their previous efforts with the massively popular Call of Duty franchise at Infinity Ward.

West and Zampella have a substantial history with id Software. The id Tech 3 engine was licensed for the Call of Duty series by the then bosses of Infinity Ward and used for the entire series before an overhaul on Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare turned it into the IW Engine.

Whether the new relationship between Respawn and id suggests an announcement of tech licensing from the latter to the former at some point in the future remains to be seen.

QuakeCon will take place at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas from August 12 to 15.
