Applifier today announced a $4M Series B round of funding, for continued expansion from Facebook to mobile with a suite of innovative game cross-promotion services. Led by Lifeline Ventures and joined by existing investors MHS Capital and PROFounders, the current round also includes new investor Webb Investment Network, along with angel investors Steven Lurie, Anthony Soohoo, Philip Reisberger and David Wright and Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation.
“The latest round of funding enables us to pioneer game replay sharing on mobile with Everyplay and expand our successful Impact video advertising network to smartphones and tablets,” said Jussi Laakkonen, CEO and Founder of Applifier. “We are privileged to have our existing investors doubledown on Applifier’s growth and to benefit from the wealth of games and mobile experience, that our new investors are bringing onboard.”
Word of mouth is the most important source of mobile game discovery. Everyplay provides a truly unique way for game developers to foster word of mouth by enabling game players to easily share their gameplay experiences in video format with friends and fans. Players can finally share meaningfully from mobile games and discover new games that friends and other players are genuinely excited about. For game developers struggling to get noticed in the increasingly crowded app stores, Everyplay provides a completely new and free way to get discovered. That’s why the Everyplay network has already attracted over 400 developer signups. The first games powered with Everyplay’s game replay sharing are launching for the holiday season 2012.
“Game discovery isn’t to be dismissed – it’s a billion dollar business, and Applifier gets it like no one else,” said Petteri Koponen, founding partner at Lifeline Ventures. “Sharing gameplay videos through Everyplay is an exciting form of self-expression and the replays are fun to watch, which is why the concept works. If you ask me, Everyplay is the future of viral.”
Applifier’s Impact video advertising network on Facebook has grown rapidly in just six months and counts major social game companies like Fresh Planet (makers of SongPop), King.com and Zynga as customers. Impact’s proven game trailer advertising is launching on mobile to provide its best-in class monetization, high opt-in rates and engaged highquality users also to mobile game publishers.
