LAND O'LAKES, FLORIDA - September 19, 2011 -- Artix Entertainment, the indie game development studio that delivers download-free browser-based RPGs to 130 million users, just raised the level cap in their newest game Pony vs Pony to 20 and added hundreds of new Pony items to its shops.
Pony vs Pony is Artix Entertainment's newest game. It was launched two weeks ago at AE's DragonCon panel to a very excited crowd who knew very little about the game and was very anxious to try it out for the first time. At the time, the AE development team set the player level cap to five.
This game is unlike any other Artix Entertainment game. Pony vs Pony is a puzzle game where players battle other ponies through puzzles. The game board has three types of orbs: sunshine, butterfly, and candy orbs. Connecting four or more orbs in a row releases and activates them. The sunshine orbs deal a damage attack, butterfly orbs cast a protective shield around the player to mitigate damage taken, and candy orbs activate a pet attack. Pet attacks vary depending on what pet the player has equipped.
Players can battle against NPC ponies or they can battle their friends' ponies. Though none of the battles is real-time, when players choose to fight against their friends' ponies, they are playing against an AI that mimics how the friend plays - the AI will play at the same speed, have the same preferences for orbs, wear the same outfit, and use the same pet as the player whose pony it's playing.
Players earn experience and Sparkle Gems by winning battles. Sparkle Gems are used to purchase vanity and battle items for ponies - mane and tail hair, unicorn horns, wings, outfits, jewelry, pets, and more! Higher pony levels grant access to higher level shops with lots of new items for ponies.
Players who reach level 20, the current maximum level, will have access to eight different shops with hundreds of items for their ponies.
Artix Entertainment can neither confirm nor deny that players will be able to battle against boss-pony NPCs by the names of Chuck Neigh-is, Jack Stallinton, Edger Allen Pony, and Sylvester Stallion.
