Kunos Simulazioni is pleased to announce a new officially licensed track for our upcoming racing simulation, Assetto Corsa, the Autodromo di Monza.
"Since 1922 up until today, memorable pages of motor racing and motorcycling history have been written on the Monza Circuit. The best drivers, the most famous cars, the most important events have created a special legend which has existed for almost 100 years."
This year the “ Autodromo di Monza” celebrates 90 years since it opened its gates for motor racing’s illuminati, and for the first time this legendary track will be reproduced in a videogame using Laserscan Technology. With Assetto Corsa virtual drivers will be able to enjoy the most accurate digital reproduction of this track that has ever been created.
The acquisition of laserscan data was completed just a few weeks after the 2011 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, during ideal weather conditions. The circuit was scanned in its entirety, including its historical areas, such as the Sopraelevata, the famous high speed ring seen in John Frankeneimer's dramatic movie Grand Prix. This section is considered today a monument to motorsport history, and is still used for the Rally Monza winter event.
Marco Massarutto, Production Manager at Kunos Simulazioni could not be more excited to offer this news to the community: "We are so proud to get this license: the Autodromo di Monza is not only the most famous circuit in Italy, but it is one of most desired track licenses in the racing simulation genre. This circuit has been the theatre of some of the most important and dramatic events in motorsport history, and it is still the fastest racing circuit for motorsport competitions. For our small, independent team it is an honour to acquire the license for this track, and we are using all our skills and technologies in order to reproduce it as best as we can. Monza's history and layout, perfectly fits with most of our cars, which will soon be announced. The combination of Autodromo di Monza, including all of its famous layouts, and the variety of cars simulated in Assetto Corsa, will give players an exclusive driving experience which, thanks to laserscan technology and our realistic physics model, will reach a new standard in the simracing genre.
We wish to thank all the people who support this project by buying a copy of our previous products. It is your support that has made this made it possible for our independent team to acquire an important license like this one. Thanks to the support of the simracing community, other official licensed contents will be announced soon. ”
Monza Circuit will be included as official licensed content in Assetto Corsa, expected to be released within 2012.
