The hit iOS game ' Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land' is – for the 30th June only – free! This insanity is brought to you by Red Wasp Design in conjunction with DailyAppDream. Gamers can download the Daily App Dreams App to find out about the other free apps on offer each day!
Noted iPad gamer and controversial 'human app' surgeon Dr. Herbert West commented, “I am very animated indeed to see this game become more widely available. Anything that increases public awareness to the danger posed by unnameable horrors from beyond must be a good thing.”
Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is an indie turn-based strategy RPG inspired by the horror fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and the classic paper RPG of the same name. In 'The Wasted Land' the player uses their team of investigators to uncover a deadly conspiracy underlying the Great War. Barbed wire, mustard gas and machines guns will prove to be the least deadly encounter that the investigators will meet as they venture out onto the battlefield to try and solve the mystery of the Wasted Land. All this while trying to keep their sanity intact...
The twilight of June is an auspicious time in Lovecraftian fiction: At the end of June 1882, Nabby Gardner goes insane following the dramatic arrival of a strange meteor on their land (in the classic Color Out of Space). The scientists from the Miskatonic University are baffled. At the close of June 1917 in the World War I set short story ' The Temple', the crippled U-29 submarine is now at the mercy of the current, which as the narrative unfolds, will take it to places of horror. In Australia, at the end of June 1935 in The Shadow out of Time, the Peaslee Expedition completes the excavation of 1250 strange carved blocks. Nathaniel Peaslee recognizes the hieroglyphics that adorn the blocks from strange dreams he has been haunted by. No good will come of this realisation...
