Cartagena Capital becomes content partner for Festival of Games 2013

Amsterdam - October 15, 2012 – Cartagena Capital becomes content partner for Festival of Games IX, which will take place 23rd to 25th of April 2013. The partnership is aimed at both transferring knowledge of key trends in the “New age” games market and narrowing the gap between gaming companies and capital investors. Cartagena Capital’s contribution will consist of bringing in both their expertise and network of investors to the event.

The need for in-depth business insights, further professionalization and capital investment in the gaming industry has been growing ever since Festival of Games started in 2005. Since then gaming companies transformed from two-man operations into million dollar companies. Social networks emerged, servicing more than one billion members and opening new gaming platforms and discovering new categories of players. Nowadays hundreds of mobile games are also released, day in day out.

Cartagena’s focus in the gaming industry is on the “New age games market: Online, social and mobile games.” Within this market Cartagena recognizes twelve key trends varying from Asian influences on the market, the shift towards mobile, the growing importance of brands and the F2P model. These trends will be the basis of the program of the 2013 Game Conference.

Cartagena Capital is well connected in the investor universe, many of which are looking for opportunities in the gaming industry. The Pitch & Match system of Festival of Games will match gaming companies and investors and will generate a personal agenda of one-on-one meetings during the event.

Falk Müller-Veerse, Managing Partner and Founder of Cartagena Capital commented: "Working with Festival of Games is an extremely exciting project and we feel very honored by given the chance to contribute to their conference."

“Cartagena Capital’s focus on the new games market, knowledge of key trends and network of investors makes them very interested to become a partner for the Festival of Games” says Erik Heemskerk, Managing Director NLGD. “By partnering with Cartagena Capital we are helping gaming companies by providing increased access to capital”.
