Brighton, August 15 th, 2012 – Chivalry, the upcoming, exceptional medieval “first person slasher” for the PC, is now also going to hit the retail shelves: Today, developer Torn Banner Studios and publisher Lace Mamba Global announces the worldwide boxed retail release of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, starting in the UK and Ireland in Q4 2012.
Besiege castles and raid villages in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a fast-paced medieval FPS that thrusts the player into the gruesome and visceral battles of the middle ages with a competitive multi-player focus.
Finally melee combat done right, Chivalry is designed to feel familiar to first and third person action gamers. The action is furious, players can exchange blows in whirlwinds of steel, each action individually selected and pushing the limits of human reaction time.
Chivalry truly captures the feeling of being on a medieval battlefield with grit and brutality that ensures every fight is emotional and satisfying.
Players can choose their fighter from 4 unique classes – Archer, Man-at-arms, Vanguard and Knight –, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. The game’s gruesome assortment of medieval weaponry totals over 60 choices, including swords, battle axes, longbows, flails and warhammers.
The deep melee combat system allows fighters to manipulate their swings in real time with the mouse for precise and full control of their attacks. Players will be able to slaughter their opponents in true medieval fashion – e.g. decapitating them with a swift blow from their blade to the neck, crushing them with catapults or searing them with boiling oil. During the game, players will gain experience and unlock new ways to customize their warriors.
The battlefields are ready for up to 32 players online, and Chivalry: Medieval Warfare will also feature offline play options. The game is being created using the Unreal 3 engine.
