Cultural money for The PathTale of Tales acquire funding from CultuurInvest

Gent, Belgium, 8 November 2007

CultuurInvest will support the production of upcoming indie horror game The Path with an investment of 90.000 Euros. The contract was signed a few days ago in CultuurInvest's impressive headquarters in Brussels.

"In games industry terms, the amount that CultuurInvest is investing is next to nothing, but for a small independent developer like us, it means the difference between being able to make a game or not. This is the

first time we will be working with investment money (as opposed to arts funding), so we're a bit nervous about that. It's like we suddenly levelled up."

CultuurInvest is a new Flemish investment fund that exclusively finances companies and projects in the cultural industries. It was founded by the Flemish Ministry of Culture, supported by the Ministry of Finance&Buget and the Minister of Economy&Innovation. The Path is the first game they are investing in.

Tale of Tales is the Belgian game development studio of media artists Auriea Harvey&Michaël Samyn. They are well known in independent games circles for "The Endless Forest", an mmo-screensaver in which everyone plays a deer. The Path is a single player horror game currently under development. It will be their first commercial release.
