Details: Anomalous Interactive have revealed their upcoming title Wolfdozer, a survival destruction rampage that can only be described as GTA meets the Three Little Pigs. Now in the final stages of development, the game will launch on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch in Q3 2012.

Gamers will be able to unleash their inner big bad wolf as they go on a destructive rampage and get their revenge on those three pesky pigs in a story-driven score-attack retelling of the classic fairy-tale.

Development History

Anomalous Interactive are a dynamic duo that met while completing small business training as part of the Australian government’s NEIS program. Two guys with the same name, both wanting to make mobile games, seemed too good to pass up and the studio was formed in January 2011.

Ryan Keable spent three years with Pandemic in both Brisbane and Los Angeles working on The Saboteur. His last major studio project was AFL Live 2011 with Wicked Witch before heading out on his own.

Ryan Tait was studying at AIE in Melbourne, and after evaluating employment options, decided to go out on his own. That’s when he joined forces with Keable, bringing across most of the assets that would become Slingshot Justice, the studio’s first release.

Wolfdozer has been brewing since May last year when the team started brainstorming for their next release. They looked back at games they enjoyed playing themselves, and Sim City was an instant standout. One of the most enjoyable aspects of that game was not only building your city, but destroying it within the gameplay constraints.

Now they had a gameplay hook, they needed a theme to go along with it. That’s when they decided to turn a classic fairy tale, the Three Little Pigs, upside down and let the player fill the role as the Big Bad Wolf, exacting revenge on the town of Pigsville.

How was the wolf going to destroy the town? Inspiration came from a real life story on YouTube, when an American citizen built an armour-plated bulldozer and took out his local courthouse, police station and local businesses in his own brand of revenge. That’s what the Wolf needed, a big bad bulldozer.

Development quickly picked up pace as the team took inspiration from the original Grand Theft Auto games, giving a bird’s eye view of the action, having a strong link between the amount of destruction and the persistence of cops, ultimately creating a “town vs. you” system.

Anomalous Interactive is derived from the world Anomaly, which fits in with their two binding principals – to create new, unique and exciting gameplay experiences, that offers something that they would want to play themselves.   Wolfdozer is a perfect example of those principles, bringing players a whole new take on the classic fairy tale.
