Dev Diary: The World of Dreamland Online

With a cute, animated style rendered in full 3D glory, Dreamland Online is set to turn heads when its Alpha Test opens. Today the dev team gives us an inside look at the game world. From formulation to realization, the team put a lot of hard work into creating astounding locations and out-of-this-world adventures.

The first thing we want players to experience when they step into the enchanted world of Dreamland Online is a sense of wonder and wanderlust. There is so much to see that you may feel pressed for time just to take it all in. From a village made of mushrooms, golden manors, mist-filled forests and haunted castles to a rustic seaside village, mysterious deep sea coves and glorious fortresses, the sheer exhilaration of simply exploring these places is guaranteed to elicit feelings of awe and wonder. Just don’t forget to pick your jaw up off the floor before you embark on your travels!

Mushroom Village

Located among the western foothills, the wondrous vegetation in this region has long provided shelter and living space for Dreamland’s human inhabitants. This is where aspiring warriors begin their training, slashing at wild chickens in the nearby forests. Okay, maybe chickens don’t sound like worthy adversaries, but everyone has to start somewhere! Once you’re confident enough in your ability to swing your sword at chickens, it’s time to move on.

Golden Manor

Especially enchanting in the golden glare of the autumn sun, here it’s harvest season all year round. The insect kingdom and the animals of the forests are constant reminders of the richness of life as the good folks of the Golden Manor bustle about, collecting their harvests with joy and diligence. I recommend exploring with a bunch of friends, but remember to dress in your best and bring along your camera, because there is no better time or place to snap some beautiful pictures.

Misty Forest

Hansel and Gretel may well have tread upon a similar path into this forest. Unfortunately, that fairy tale is broken and now the evil lingering in this place has grown steadily worse over time. Ridiculously large bats hang from branches overhead, thinking malicious thoughts about swooping down and feasting upon unlucky passersby.

Sunlight has forsaken this wretched place. What little light penetrates through comes from a shrouded and dejected moon hanging askew in the night sky. If you stare at the shadows long enough, you might notice a few of them moving or twitching. Don’t be surprised if a deathly chill settles into your bones. True warriors will stand courageously in the face of all challenges and overcome any obstacle to reach their goals.

South Sea Village

This seemingly simple village has earned its share of fame among the inhabitants of Dreamland, drawing attention from both the righteous and wicked. Fate is neutral, serving neither the light nor the darkness, so events in this once peaceful village can only be judged in times to come. A group of mercenary poachers has descended upon the village. Finding no game to quell their thirst for the hunt, they began to turn their cruelty toward the various domesticated animals around the village. Their superior weapons and barbaric behavior has left the villagers helpless. Will a hero come to rescue them from their dilemma? We’ll just have to wait and see.
