Elite® Announce‘ZX Spectrum: Elite CollectionTM (Vol. #1 to #23)’ - for iPhone/Pod to go‘FREEMIUM’ (

Elite Systems, the long established UK based developer and electronic publisher of games for portable, mobile and other devices has announced that its hit paid App‘ ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection™’ (which is currently exclusive to iOS) is to go‘FREEMIUM’ for one week only, from 8pm BST Thursday 30 ^th June.

Speaking about the decision, Elite® MD Steve Wilcox said,

“since its launch in October 2010, ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection™ has proved to be the runaway winner in the race to enable much-loved, classic ZX spectrum games to be enjoyed legally on Apple’s portable devices - we’re steadily approaching the point where we’ll be able to announce the 100,000 ^th paid instance of the App, (or associated paid in-apps and paid stand-alone apps).”

The App was very recently updated (for the 6 ^th time since its launch) and benefitted from:

<*>the availability of a further 40-plus ZX Spectrum games as in-app purchases - bringing the total available (of which 13 are included) to 150 <*>improvements to its In-App Shop;
<*>‘Collections’ (Vol. #3 to #23) - priced at£1.19/€1.59/US$1.99 per volume, each containing 6 ZX Spectrum games - were joined by <*>‘Singles’ (#1 to #12) - priced at£0.59/€0.79/US$0.99 or more, each containing 1 ZX Spectrum game and an associated‘cheats’ version
<*>the inclusion - as an in-app purchase - of a collection of ZX Spectrum versions of Data East coin-operated arcade games, including the wonderful Midnight Resistance <*>the inclusion - again as in in-app purchase - of the mega-hit Jet Set Willy II <*>a discount of 40% on the price, when making an in-app purchase of all‘Collections’

By making the App‘FREEMIUM’, albeit for one week only, we’re expecting ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection™ - which is already enjoyed by 10s of thousands of 30 and 40 some things - to be enjoyed by many thousands more.
