The Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC) hosts online qualifications for the first time in their history. This was made possible by the collaboration with the Electronic Sports League (ESL). In Europe and the USA, the qualifiers of the three disciplines are taking place from September 19 until September 27. Because of the international range of the ESL, the regional qualifiers in StarCraft 2, Trackmania and FIFA 11 will be held online within the context of the respective portals of the ESL. The best players of the preliminaries are competing with each other in the finals during the Paris Games Week from October 21until 25.
"To advertise electronic sports throughout the whole world is a goal that is shared by all parts of the eSports community”, states Ibrahim Mazari, the Director of Public Relations at Turtle Entertainment. “The cooperation with the ESWC is the largest collaboration between the two league operators yet and offers a big chance for both parties to do so“, he adds.
