Final round of Travian Tournament 2011 ends in record time - 2012 looms with prices worth 150.000 €

Munich, November 29, 2011 - For seven years, Travian has been one of the most popular browser games worldwide. Millions of players from all over the world have been charmed by the free-to-play strategy game, in which you must manage a Gaulish, Roman or Teutonic village. In Fall 2010, Munich-based browser games company Travian Games invited players from different countries around the world to take part in a prize-laden championship tournament. Over 350,000 players from over 150 countries took up the call to arms and spent several months battling through the qualifying rounds and final tournament, which came to a surprisingly abrupt end last week.

With the construction of a world wonder, a Russian alliance brought Travian Tournament 2010/2011 to an end so quickly that it may even be a record. The victors in other categories can also see their names in the tournament’s Hall of Fame. Over the next few days, tablets, smart phones, coupons and other prizes worth nearly 15,000 Euros will be sent to the best players in their respective categories.

According to Travian Games Head of Games Eckart Foos: "We can be proud of our best Travian players, because games are rarely ended in such a short time. The unabated enthusiasm for Travian increases our own efforts to provide our players with exciting challenges. We are therefore announcing preparations for Travian Tournament 2012, for which players can already register at http://tournament2012.travian.com/. With prizes worth over 150,000 Euros, this probably makes the Travian tournament one of the most prize-heavy browser game tournaments in the world up to now."

The prize-laden Travian Tournament 2012 starts on December 5, 2011, as players compete for tickets for the final round on 16 qualification servers around the world. After the end of the qualifying round - expected to be in the 2nd quarter of 2012 - the final will start with the best players in the entire world.  Victors of the recently-completed tournament qualify automatically to defend their title.
