Future appoints new Editor for PC Gamer

15/06/09– Future, the special-interest media group, has announced the appointment of Tim Edwards as Editor of the UK’s bestselling PC games magazine, PC Gamer.

Having worked on PC Gamer since joining Future as a Staff Writer in 2002, Tim takes the Editor’s chair with immediate effect, following the departure of Ross Atherton for Activision Blizzard’s European PR team, based in Paris. Working through the editorial ranks for the team, Edwards was previously promoted to Features Editor, before becoming Deputy Editor of PC Gamer in 2006.

Tim’s appointment follows the celebration of PC Gamer’s milestone 200th issue earlier this year and the successful introduction of the magazine’s most comprehensive design overhaul since it first launched in December 1993. The new PC Gamer reflects the fast-evolving PC games market– reflecting the changing way that PC games are now delivered and consumed.

Richard Keith, Publisher of PC Gamer, said:

“Tim has grown up with PC Gamer and we’re delighted to make him Editor. He has a fantastic opportunity to develop the PC Gamer brand after the successful redesign which has been amazingly well received by readers and advertisers. There’s a lot more to come from PC Gamer over the next 12 months and we’re really excited that Tim is the one who will be driving those changes.”

Tim Edwards, Editor of PC Gamer, added:

“PC Gamer is the world’s biggest PC gaming media brand and I’m truly excited to get the chance to run it. At the heart is a phenomenal magazine with a strong team that I’m proud to lead. Our recent redesign has placed us dramatically ahead of our competition. My first job as Editor is to ensure that this new look and feel is properly bedded in, while ensuring that our stratospheric standards remain in place.”
