Future plc, the international specialist media group and leading digital publisher, has appointed Clair Porteous to the role of Head of Entertainment Group – responsible for Future’s Games and Film portfolio.

Clair was previously Head of Digital Development for the Entertainment Group, after joining Future in January 2011 as Publisher of Future’s Film brands. Since joining Future she has driven digital growth across a portfolio including Total Film, PCGamer.com, Official Xbox Magazine and Computerandvideogames.com. The Entertainment Group now delivers content to more than 12.7 million unique users monthly – up 108% in the last year – and more than 50 million video views a year.

Prior to joining Future, Clair was Publisher of Nuts at IPC Media and Head of Marketing for men's lifestyle brands: Nuts, Loaded and mousebreaker.com. As Publisher she transformed Nuts into a massive multi-platform property, extending its online reach to become the UK's number one men's lifestyle site according to Hitwise, as well as driving the development of video, ecommerce, phone apps and live events.

In her new role, Clair will report to Nial Ferguson, Group Publishing Director for Technology & Entertainment.

Nial says:  “The growth of the Entertainment Group is crucial as we continue our development as a borderless, digital business. Clair's drive and desire to accelerate the growth plans made her the perfect candidate to lead the strong Entertainment management team through the next phase of the portfolio’s evolution.”

Clair adds: “Digital acceleration is at the heart of Future’s strategy for its thriving Entertainment brands. The strength of our pillar brands means we’re building on extremely solid foundations. And – as the last year has shown us – there is tremendous growth potential in the digital space for our games and film properties, online and on mobile devices like iPad.”

In May Future launched a fully interactive HD iPad edition of Total Film, while July saw the launch of an interactive HD iPad edition of Edge – the world’s most respected multi-format videogame magazine.
