gamescom 2011: ESL Brink Championship winners determined

After four months of fierce competition the ESL Brink Championship has come to an end. Throughout the entire tournament we have witnessed some amazing victories as well as suprising defeats. More than 200 teams and 1,000 players participated in the race for the the title of the best Brink team in Europe and for a share of 15,000 Euro - the prize money of the competition. In the end, there were only two teams left that were supposed to face each other in the grand final of the ESL Brink Championship - Epsilon eSports and sGs Gaming. The final battle took place at gamescom 2011 - one of the largest entertainment trade fairs in the world.

The title of the best Brink team and a cheque for 7,000 Euro went to team Epsilon eSports, which defeated their opponent 4:2 in the decisive match of the tournament. Their way to the top wasn't easy and included facing such famous eSports teams like Hardware4u or Mousesports. In the end, they proved to be the best Brink team in Europe. The team consists of international Brink talents. The line-up includes Thomas “Morte” Kerbusch (NL), Henk “VoKus” Heidstra (NL), Sergi “Winghaven” Torras (ESP), Stefan “Stefan” Hofstede (NL) and Erik “2easy” van Hoorn (GER), who is the captain of the team. The tournament grand final for Brink, the innovative shooter developed by Splash Damage and published by Bethesda Softworks, was held on Sunday (August 21) on the main stage of the ESL Energie 3 Arena (hall 9) at gamescom 2011 in Cologne. The battle attracted thousands of viewers in the audience as well on the stream provided by ESL TV, which broadcasted the grand final LIVE from the venue.
