BRISBANE, Australia - May 31, 2012 - Leading Australian mobile game developer Halfbrick today celebrates the two-year anniversary of its hit sensation Fruit Ninja, marking its success as one of the world's most recognizable brands in the mobile gaming space with some remarkable milestones. In 2012, the title was officially recognized as the second highest-selling App Store game of all time.

Kicking off the week-long celebration, Halfbrick gave fans a worldwide content update for the iOS versions of the games, introducing new characters, features and a global download code giveaway contest. The company also hosted a tour in Australia in search of the country's ultimate Fruit Ninja Master - the winner was crowned and won a trip to Japan for a real life ninja experience courtesy of Halfbrick.

"The Australian tour was our way of giving back to fans in our home country, and we might bring the tour to more cities," said Phil Larsen, Chief Marketing Officer of Halfbrick. "We have plenty more tricks up our sleeves, including more Fruit Ninja updates, continued expansion of our latest blockbuster hit Jetpack Joyride and a new batch of games to come in the future. We're showing the world how Aussie creativity can make a huge impact on games worldwide."

Along with the anniversary celebration, Halfbrick also revealed some fun, fruit-slicing statistics for Fruit Ninja:

  • Fruit Ninja players worldwide: 300 Million
  • Combos sliced: 50 billion
  • Fruits pieces chopped: 1.5 trillion
  • Cumulative player time spent playing Fruit Ninja over the course of 24 hours: 100+ years
Fruit Ninja is available for download through the iTunes® App Store for iPhone® and iPod touch® for $0.99. Fruit Ninja HD for iPad® is available for $2.99. The Android version of the game is also available on the Android Market for $1.22.
