  • HMV puts its name to the coveted ‘One to Watch’ award – HMV’s One to Watch

  • 30th anniversary Award ceremony to take place at The Westminster Park Plaza on Friday 26 th October 2012

Future, the UK’s leading games media group, today announces HMV as the headline sponsor for this year’s GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards.

Recognised as the world’s most popular and credible videogames awards, the HMV GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards celebrate the very best in the gaming industry and are the only annual awards voted for by gamers – last year alone attracting a Guinness World Record 2.1 million votes.

In addition to headline sponsorship, HMV – the UK & Ireland’s leading entertainment & technology multi-channel retailer – is putting its name to one of the most coveted gongs in gaming, the One to Watch award. HMV’s One to Watch will recognise and celebrate the most exciting games that have yet to be released. The partnership between Future and HMV will also encompass a wide range of in-store and promotional activity.

James Kick, Associate Publisher of the HMV GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards, says: “We're delighted to have HMV on board. The extensive voting campaign and amplification of the awards across our own media as well as that of our partners, means a headline slot is perfect for a retailer. On top of that, by championing the One to Watch campaign, they have a ready-made platform for driving pre-orders.”

Ewan Pinder, HMV Head of Technology & Games, adds: “We’re very excited to be partnering Future in support of the 2012 GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards – the most prestigious consumer gaming awards there are. Our headline participation demonstrates HMV’s firm commitment to games and to gaming, and we believe that through this association, and the commercial opportunities it will create, HMV will be able to further develop the depth and scope of its games offer to its customers.”

This year’s GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards ceremony will take place at the Westminster Park Plaza on Friday 26 th October. To book a table or discuss commercial opportunities, contact Andrew Church on 0207 042 4237.
