FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COPENHAGEN, Denmark – [13 November 2012] –
Mimicry Games (spearheaded by distinguished indie game designer Thomas J. Papa) is offering never-before-seen screenshots and a teaser trailer for its upcoming game Leaving. Mimicrygames.com reveals an artistic game which is in the vanguard of 3D game development for the iPad.
These teasers reveal that Leaving breaks new ground as an “Artistic Experiential Game” for iPad users. Its poetically charged experience, with massive Art Deco 3D environments, will appeal to fans of cutting edge artistic games. The website exposes beta player reviews, exclusive screenshots and video, and offers inner circle updates for early bird subscribers.
Players have unanimously declared that the game looks superb on the iPad’s Retina display. And while it is still in beta development, there’s no denying that its delicate musical score and high quality stylised 3D environments make for a polished encounter.
Leaving is not a traditional video game. It features a single-player three-act sequence in a poetic game environment. This work explores the concept of “Digital Theatre” where one plays a role, like an actor, and explores what it means to leave home.
Players take on the role of Willem, saying goodbye to loved ones at the international departures hall of an airport. The game highlights those last few precious moments of a familiar space and time before that final moment when one steps away and turns to face the unknown. Through its design it provokes reflection in an entirely personal and unique way as players explore the new wave of experiential gaming.
