IndieCity community drive 100 games to online store

At the end of 2011 indie games portal put out a Challenge for all indie developers, offering a higher revenue share of up to 90% if the community could drive at least 100 games to the Store by the end of January. This target was hit on 26th January, with the highly-rated retro-style LaserCat as the 100 th game approved on the Store. Several other games came hot on the heels of the 100 th game, with Faerie Solitaire, Never Alone Hotline, and Steel Storm: Burning Retribution being approved within several minutes of the goal being hit!

IndieCity project lead Chris Swan is delighted with the success of the site’s first Developer Challenge: “It has been fantastic watching developers and gamers work together to hit this target, and IndieCity is thrilled with the enthusiasm of its community which meant that we hit the 100 game target several days prior to the January 31 st deadline.”

The games now on sale really show off one of the key benefits of indie games – the variety and versatility. With games ranging from strategic puzzlers to interactive stories to space combat, every gamer is sure to find something for them.

Now that this first Challenge has been completed, the next stage has been opened up. The second Developer Challenge throws down the gauntlet again challenging the community to bring over 250 games to the Store, this time by April 13 th 2012. If this target is hit then all developers with games on the IndieCity store will receive an even higher revenue share (95% for games which integrate with IndieCity achievements, and 85% for those which don’t) for the following month.

The Challenge site at is kept up to date with the current games, and there are widgets available at to display your support for the IndieCity Developer Challenge!
