For immediate release
Stockholm, Sweden, 4th September 2012. Jonas Aronsson, 34, will take the role as the new Editor-in-Chief of Eurogamer.se – the Swedish edition of Europe's largest network of independent videogame websites.
Jonas Aronsson has been an editor of the website since it launched, and is already well-known amongst its readers. The reorganization will bring with it a long-term investment that aims to ensure that Eurogamer.se will become Sweden's largest independent videogame website.
”Eurogamer has only existed in Sweden for little over two years, but during this time we've become a top-tier videogame website with daily news, reviews and high quality original content. We have combined the best parts of the Eurogamer network with a Swedish editorial staff with contributors in all major cities, and our Metacritic status is a clear proof of our qualities", said Jonas Aronsson.
One of the immediate drives on Eurogamer.se during the autumn is the extended coverage of mobile and PC games. The website will also spend more resources on Swedish videogame news, longer articles and columns that cover the videogame industry. More positive changes are waiting around the corner, and will be made available to the readers throughout the year.
"We've had very high ambitions during our first two years, but our main focus has been to create a stable ground for our business and maintain daily operations. Now that we've established ourselves as an integral part of the videogame scene in Sweden it's time to raise the bar even higher. We have already got Sweden's most comprehensive news coverage, and we publish more reviews and previews a year than any other publication in Sweden", said Jonas Aronsson.
Eurogamer.se is one of three Swedish publications whose reviews are included in the leading review aggregator Metacritic.com. Founded in 1999, the Eurogamer Network is the world's leading independent video games network with local editions in ten European languages. Eurogamer Sweden launched in April 2010 by the editorial team behind PS3bloggen.se, which the previous year was voted as Sweden's best gaming blog by the Swedish public.
Toby Lee, Eurogamer Sweden's current Editor-in-Chief and the founder of PS3bloggen.se, will take on the role of Managing Director.
