KICK ENERGY SMASH GUINNESS WORLD GAMING RECORD

KICK ENERGY, the UK’s‘fuel for gamers’ yesterday set the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest mobile phone gaming party, hosted by Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries (T4, Hollyoaks).

The world record, which took place on the Kick Energy stage in the Gadget Show Live’s Game Zone, saw 316 people simultaneously gaming on mobile phones for 5 minutes.

The most popular games played at the world’s largest ever mobile phone gaming party were Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Fifa and Backbreaker. At least 35 high scores were set, and millions of points scored, with people scoring personal bests spurred on by the electric atmosphere as the hundreds of gamers congregated at the event, which was adjudicated by official Guinness representative Kaoru Ishikawa.

Well known for their acting and presenting credentials Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries are huge gamers and in the past presented an online gaming blog on  zootoday.com, testing out new releases in their own inimitable style.

Matt and Darren commented:“It was great to see the concentration on everyone’s faces; there were some magical moments as people passed levels they’ve been stuck on for months. Our personal favourite though was the mobile phone Mexican wave as the atmosphere intensified just before we started the countdown.

‘The crowd went wild when we hit the record. It was a beautiful thing.”

Kick Energy is sponsor of the Gaming Zone at The Gadget Show Live (13-17 April), headlining the main stage. The Gadget Show Live is the UK's ultimate consumer electronics event and is in its third year. 80,000 people will visit the show over its five days at the NEC Birmingham.
