Paris, France – December, 12th 2012 – Retro games developer and publisher DotEmu has announced the release of Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition – firstly available, for PC users, on the Intel AppUp® centre. This follows the huge success of the original cinematic adventure game, which has sold over a million copies since it was released on the Amiga in 1991.
Following the journey of a young scientist fighting for survival in an alien world, the re-mastered edition captures the magic of the original game while bringing it up-to-date with modern technology. Key updates to the game include HD graphics, remastered sound and extra difficulty levels. Lovers of the original game’s pixelated style are also catered for, with the ability to switch back to the original 16-bit graphics at any time. New touch-screen controls have also been added into the game.
Eric Chahi, creator of Another World, said: “The idea was to enhance the original game without losing the original style or content. I especially love the feature that lets gamers switch between the original graphics and the new ones on the fly. When I created the game, I never imagined it would stay in the hearts of so many people, and that they would still be playing it over 20 years later.”
Xavier Liard, CEO of DotEmu, said: “Another World has come a long way over the last 20 years and we’re glad to have been a part of such a fantastic project. We have been able to retain its originality, while updating the soundtrack, sound effects and graphics – which will undoubtedly please millions of players, both old and new.”
Further to Another World, DotEmu also provides more than 60 titles in its catalogue on the Intel AppUp® centre. These include Alien vs Predator Classic 2000, Guilty Gear Isuka, and series such as Little Big Adventure, Commandos, Disciples and Earth Empire. Another World is available through the Intel AppUp® centre at www.appup.com/app-details/another-world . The Intel AppUp® centre is pre-installed on most Windows 8 machines, and is available in the UK as the Dixons’ Knowhow™ App Centre.
