Meet the Nordic Game industry in Leipzig

Visit the Nordic Game booth at Game Convention 2007 in Leipzig, Germany and get acquainted with nine of the most exciting game companies and organisations in the Nordic region.

The annual GC Leipzig runs from 22-26 August, and for the second year in a row the Nordic Game booth will be in place at the GC Business Center in the Leipzig Messe. This year nine promising but very different Nordic game companies and organisations are participating, exemplifying the diversity of the ever-growing Nordic games industry.

The Nordic Game booth is located in Hall 1, Booth F70, and will be open from 9:00 to 17:00 daily, from Wednesday 22 August until Friday 24 August.

The Nordic Game booth presents the following Nordic companies and organisations:

Housemarque (FIN)

The developer of the PlayStation Network (PSN) hit game Super Stardust HD - the best reviewed PSN game and seventh best reviewed PlayStation 3 game (according to metacritic.com, 27 July 2007). Creative Director Harri Tikkanen and CEO Ilari Kuittinen will be representing Housemarque at the Nordic Game booth.

The Game Incubator (SWE)

The Game Incubator in Skövde, Sweden hosts a number of up-and-coming developers that will be participating in the Nordic Game booth, like Bits&Pieces, Colossai Studios and Shortfuse Entertainment. Colossai Studios, for example, will be presenting Frontline Nation, a turn-based war game set in modern day Europe. In Frontline Nation, superior tactics decide who remains on the battlefield - players use military forces, research and covert operations to succeed. By mastering modern warfare and high diplomacy, one turns their country into the Frontline Nation.

Zeitguyz Game Developers (DEN)

Zeitguyz are showing a playable demo of their Recoil: Retrograd, an epic title incorporating a mix of tense action and exciting adventure, set in a mysterious metropolis inhabited by devious characters. A publisher agreement is in place for the game, with a release date set this autumn. CEO Morten Iversen and Caspar Strandbygaard will be available for presentations and interviews.

Illuminate Labs (SWE)

Illuminate Labs develops and markets rendering and baking software based on proprietary LiquidLightTM technology. Illuminate Labs'TurtleTM is for Autodesk® Maya®. BeastTM is Illuminate Labs' platform-independent product, adding powerful baking functionality to internal tools. Clients include Bioware, Crystal Dynamics, Dice, EA, Insomniac, Sony and Valve. System architects Jens Olsson and Niklas Harrysson will be available for interviews.

Guppyworks (DEN)

Guppyworks is a game developer creating online community games and story-based adventure games. Guppyworks’ focus is on non-violent gameplay, immersive environments and innovative, exciting characters with behaviour simulated by proprietary AI.

Lockpick Entertainment (SWE)

Lockpick Entertainment is a privately funded company in the digital entertainment industry focusing on the development of computer games based on original concepts.

RedLynx Ltd. (FIN)

RedLynx Ltd. develops and produces interactive cross-media entertainment. Games, new chatting solutions and interactive TV are examples of proven, successful, world-leading RedLynx entertainment products sold in Europe, South America and Asia.

Artplant (NOR)

Artplant is based in Oslo, Norway and provides character design, illustrations, book-/CD-/magazine-covers, concept art, storyboarding and posters among other types of artwork related to the entertainment industry.

Peligroso Entertainment Group (SWE)

Peligroso Entertainment Group (PEG) is a business development consultancy company who service and represent game developers from Nordic Europe.

Nordic Game Program

The Nordic Game Program's mission is to assure access to quality material with a distinct Nordic element in computer games for children and young people. The Program launched in 2006 and is engaged in a variety of activities to support game development in the Nordic region, including events like the annual Nordic Game conference (14-15 May 2008 in Malmö, Sweden, www.nordicgame.com). Nordic Game Program is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers ( www.norden.org) and administered by Nordic Game Resources AB, a Swedish limited company.
