Michael Acton Smith, CEO and founder of UK based Mind Candy - the brains behind the global children’s phenomenon Moshi Monsters - will give the closing Evolve keynote at this year’s Develop in Brighton Conference, taking place from 19– 21 July 2011.

Acton Smith’s keynote presentation‘Lessons Learned Building Moshi Monsters to 50m Users’ will close Evolve on Tuesday 19 July. In its third year, the increasingly popular Evolve conference is a one-day, three-track programme focusing on new platforms, new technologies and new markets.

An online world for 7-11 year olds, Moshi Monsters ( is a unique cross between Tamagotchi, Brain Training and Facebook. Launched in April 2008 and with more than 50m registered users across 200 countries, Moshi Monsters is one of the fastest growing and profitable children's websites in the world. While the core of the Moshi Monsters experience will remain online, the brand has expanded rapidly offline to include books, trading cards, toys, magazines and console games. A television show is also launching this year.

Acton Smith’s presentation will go into detail about what the Moshi Monsters team learned during this intense period of growth, which business decisions worked and which didn't.

"I’m really looking forward to speaking at Evolve,” he commented.“It’s going to be a highly illuminating and entertaining session for anyone who’s interested in online games or wants to find out how to expand IP onto new platforms. The games industry is going through cataclysmic changes at the moment and the Develop Conference is the perfect place to connect, share and learn about what's coming next."

The Develop Conference in Brighton celebrates its sixth birthday this year and promises a stellar line up of speakers, sessions and socialising. Around 1,300 delegates from across the globe are expected to attend.
