Durham, USA – March 1 st, 2012 – Funcom is both humbled and excited to share the positive reactions from the gaming press following their recent extensive play testing of the upcoming modern-day massively multiplayer online game ‘The Secret World’. Journalists from the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Russia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and other countries all over the world were recently invited to visit Funcom’s offices in both Oslo and in Montreal to spend an entire day playing the game.

This time around journalists got to play the Illuminati starter experience in New York, adventure through the land of Egypt and brave the depths of Hell itself. Highly immersive environments, freeform character progression with synergistic combat, and unique mission gameplay are consistently mentioned as high points in the experience, along with the engaging storytelling and modern themes. Funcom is proud to see that the development team’s hard work at creating innovation is recognized, with sites such as ZAM saying the game is “… going to be one of the most important MMORPGs of our time.

“We are very happy to see that the press continues to enjoy their time with ‘The Secret World’ and that the feedback from the latest previews remain as positive as last year’s,” says Funcom CEO Trond Arne Aas. “This combined with the positive feedback from our beta testers reinforces our confidence in the game’s potential, and needless to say we are very much looking forward to the upcoming public beta initiatives where hundreds of thousands of gamers will get to play ‘The Secret World’.”

Coming up next, ‘The Secret World’ will be shown behind closed doors at GDC 2012 where Funcom will present locations, storylines and gameplay features never shown before. Hands-on is also offered.
