Outsider Games, is a new Northern Ireland mobile game studio. Set up in recent months by game and comicbook artist Stephen Downey, with the aim of bringing together the best creative talent working across all media, in order to create innovative and entertaining mobile games.
Our first game, Shaking Safari , is currently being developed and will launch on iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad) and Android devices early-mid 2012. It featuring the talents of Stephen Downey, Scott Grandison, Priya Mistry and WMT - On the Air! who are eternally grateful to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and CIIF for funding this first project.
We like to share our fun and frustration, so leading up to the release of the game, Outsidergames.com will be a running two monthly columns, showcasing development of different game aspects:
· 'Graphic Gaming': On the 2nd Monday of each month Stephen Downey highlights his process of designing characters and assets for mobile devices.
- ' Creative Coding': The 4th Monday of each month brings Scott's column discussing the technical challenges associated with bringing the game to life.

Outsider Games is a new Northern Ireland game studio, set up in 2011 by Stephen Downey . The aim is to bring together bright creative talent working across various sectors in order to create innovative and entertaining mobile games.
Stephen Downey is a Belfast based artist and illustrator. He has worked in the comicbook, gaming and illustration industry for the past five years with a variety of clients bringing his artwork and designs to the masses including EA Games, HMH Publishing, Atomic Diner and Titan Publishing.
Scott Grandison works full-time as a member of faculty at the University of East Anglia. He spends much of his spare time playing, thinking about and writing computer games. He has written software for a variety of industries including insurance, protein crystallographers, biologists and computer gamers.
