London, 29 th September 2011 – GamesAid, a UK games industry charity for children and young people, would like to thank the organisers and attendees for two of the biggest gaming parties of the year, held last week during the Eurogamer Expo.
On Friday 23 rd September, over 300 members of the gaming industry made their way down from the Eurogamer Expo to The Pembroke in West Brompton, for a huge night of drinks, DJ’s and dancing. Generously sponsored by OnLive, Bethesda and NCsoft, A staggering £10,150 was raised for GamesAid through ticket sales and donations, and a fantastic night was had by all.
This was followed by an event hosted by Midlife Gamer on Saturday 24 th September at O'Neil's Pub and Grill in Earls Court. In attendance were the Midlife Gamer community, game publishers, developers and PR as well as game enthusiasts from all corners of the UK. All came to enjoy a night of celebration, socialising and charity support. A stunning £2000 was raised for GamesAid - smashing through Midlife Gamer's target of £250!

GamesAid is a charity working within the UK Games and Interactive Entertainment Industry and acts as a means of giving something back on behalf of the industry. It acts as an overarching broker of charitable activities and distributes funds to a diverse range of UK based charities. It is a non trading body administered by Trustees and formally run by a chairman.
Funds are raised in a number of ways including, but not limited to: social or sporting events, individual and corporate donations, games packs and in-App purchases.
Charities supported must all be registered and will go through a due diligence process to ensure they meet the GamesAid requirements namely small to medium sized charities that have a turnover under £5m pa and who support children and young people based in the UK.
Anyone who works in the UK video games industry is eligible to become a member. Once a member they are updated with regular newsletters and can nominate charities for the rest of the membership to vote on to receive funds.
