Leipzig, 2 June 2009
Trying out the latest online and mobile games, meeting the like-minded or watching the pros at the World Cyber Games - from 31 July to 2 August 2009, Leipziger Messe makes it all possible. Gamers, clans and guilds from many virtual worlds will be in Leipzig for the world's first trade show for browser, client and mobile games, all celebrating the premiere of the GAMES CONVEN TION ONLINE.
Whilst the exhibitors' new games, funsport areas and community events make up the daytime attractions, young bands will set the scene in the evenings. Gamer big names like Jan Hegenberg and newcomers from the Baden-Württemberg Pop Academy will keep the Exhibition Centre's event hall rocking till midnight, with the GCO GamersCamp at the ready afterwards for summer nights in the heart of one of Germany's loveliest cities. As from 30 July, a campsite of their very own will be available to gamers on Leipzig's Festwiese. After the fair closes for the day, there's plenty of room here to relax over a barbecue with friends from the digital world or to recover and get ready for the next day's activities.
The GamersCamp provides both practical and affordable accommodation. The ticket for the campsite includes admission to the GCO and free use of Leipzig's local public transport. A one-day ticket costs only 34.50 euros, a three-day ticket 81 euros. Breakfast can also be booked for a small additional charge.
The advantage of the GamersCamp is that it's just a few minutes on foot from the city centre, with all that Leipzig's night life has to offer. More than 1,200 bars and restaurants provide plenty of variety - and there's no such thing as closing time. For those who prefer to stay with their online games, a hotspot will be available on the Festwiese for fast access to the internet.
All information and registration for the GamersCamp can be accessed at www.gamesconvention.com.
About the GAMES CONVENTION ONLINE
The GAMES CONVENTION ONLINE is the first independent platform in Europe for what is currently the game industry's most dynamic market: browser, client and mobile games. From 31 July to 2 August 2009, publishers, game portals and gaming service providers from all over the world will be in Leipzig to introduce themselves.
The trade show's concept is for two separate areas. The focus is on the Business Center with professionally organised matchmaking for trade visitors and an integrated dialogue conference. The public exhibition halls are where it's at for gamers. As well as taking part in many events and show matches, they can try out the very latest online and mobile games. Gaming communities are also offered a range of presentation opportunities.
