PlayReplay Opens US Office to Extend Marketing Reach for Digital Games Publishers

SANTA MONICA, CA, OCTOBER 06, 2010 - PlayReplay, a London-based marketing and PR agency focused entirely on promoting digitally distributed games, today announced the opening of a satellite office in Santa Monica, CA.

The new office officially opened today and is dedicated to the effective promotion of games for XBLA, PSN, PSP, PC download, PC online, iPhone, DSiWare, and WiiWare in North America and Europe.

PlayReplay has worked on a string of high profile download titles across multiple platforms for independent developers across the world such as Hothead Games, Relentless Software, doublesix Games, Housemarque, Beatnik Games, WGames!, VEEMEE and Playbrains. PlayReplay has also worked with SEGA and Paramount Digital Entertainment.

The company primarily works with self-publishing developers to help maximize visibility of their titles, however, larger US-based publishers that lack expertise in marketing digital download titles to non-US territories have sought out PlayReplay’s services as well. Europe and the rest of the world can represent a large percentage of sales, often 40%-50% of the total sales for games on download platforms.

Oliver Birch, UK Director comments:

“The challenge of marketing for digital platforms is very different from that of a retail launch. Budgets are significantly less and much of the influence to purchase is by word of mouth. Developers rarely have marketing experience or internal resources and Publishers are busy marketing their retail releases, which is where their biggest revenues remain. Our business in North America is growing so we are delighted to have feet on the ground in the US to service our clients.”
