(N.B. The monthly games chart is based on titles released and reviewed in the last month. The apps chart is based on titles released and reviewed over the last three months. Hence, this is not a cumulative chart and earlier released titles may have higher scores.)
Following Speedball 2 's triumphant return to the video game arena last month, another wily 20-year veteran Final Fantasy III has dusted off its magic wand, chosen its finest walking shoes, and promptly summoned up the #1 position in March. Kairosoft's follow-up to its well received Game Dev Story, meanwhile, traded consoles and coders for saunas and solariums, Hot Springs Story more than content to bathe in the limelight of third. The Angry Birds flock, for once, had to settle for something other than the top branch of Qi's chart, though the Rio-based spin-off still garnered muchos kudos.
At the launch of iPad 2 a few weeks ago, Apple debuted its music creation software GarageBand. And whilst the iPhone community waits patiently for this keyboard hobbyist's dream app to filter down to the 3.5-inch touchscreen, Guitar World Lick of the Day and iBone - the Perfect Trombone competently fill the void this month. For those with less lofty sonic ambitions, Bome Software's After the Beep! supplies the tools for leaving 'zany', memorable - and brilliantly misleading - voicemail messages.
We'll continue to provide an updated listing each and every month, together with a round-up of the year. For all the up-to-date information on which games, apps, and publishers are reviewing best, head on over to the Quality Index now.
