(N.B. The monthly games chart is based on titles released and reviewed in the last month. The apps chart is based on titles reviewed over the last three months. Hence, this is not a cumulative chart and earlier released titles may have higher scores.)

Android users were spoilt for choice last month, with a large number of high-quality games landing on Google Play during the past four weeks. Springing straight into the top spot is elasticated platform puzzler Spoing, which leapt over all obstacles to become Android Qi’s highest-rated chart entry for May. Meanwhile, social strategy title Civilization War has had players competing for victory on the international battleground - via a series of touchscreen menus, of course. Lunar Racer also made an impression on the surface of the Top 10, leaving a trail of moondust in its wake as it sped to a third-place finish.

Convenience was the theme of May’s highest-rated Android apps. Relocation assistant My Move gained plaudits for its collection of removal companies, cost estimate calculator, and note-taking facilities. For everyday travel, tracking app OneBusAway has found favour with Seattle commuters and Android app critics as an easy way to monitor the public transportation situation. And to make the most of your smartphone’s virtual real estate, Desktop VisualizeR’s home screen customisation suite has given users the chance to create their own shortcuts and widgets, a service which has proved the catalyst for over a million downloads already.

We'll continue to provide an updated listing each and every month, together with a round-up of the year. For all the up-to-date information on which games, apps, and publishers are reviewing best, head on over to the  Android Quality Index  now.
