(N.B. The monthly games chart is based on titles released and reviewed in the last month. The apps chart is based on titles reviewed over the last three months. Hence, this is not a cumulative chart and earlier released titles may have higher scores.)
As far as traditional games go this month, EA’s FIFA 13 tops the iPhone Qi league table for September 2012, though it does trail the poker assistant app Poker Tools overall. In good news for soccer fans worldwide, EA’s latest footy update has improved its teamwork, finally supplying online play. Following close behind EA's footballing masterclass, God of Blades brings a dose of epic fantasy and prog rock excess to the endless-runner market. Speaking of running, Rayman Jungle Run - at #5 - has been winning plaudits for its stunning take on the platforming speedrun genre. Down in seventh place, meanwhile, Rovio’s latest smash hit Bad Piggies fully justifies the hype with its gleefully slapdash physics-puzzling fare.
By comparison, things are a little more docile at the top of the iPhone Qi September app charts, with Nanny App helping first-time parents with advice on everything from feeding to fun activities with your tot. One thing it doesn’t hand busy parents is guidance on time management, though that’s supplied by the Life Clock productivity app in second place. Meanwhile, Indie Shuffle might sound like a dance technique, but it’s actually a music discovery app that makes recommendations based on your favourite artists. And the music theme continues in seventh place with RockPlayer2 - a flexible media player with gesture-based controls. If we started this month's app chart round-up with an tool for parents, then Dandelion is definitely one for the kids. It’s a lovely interactive story which helps little ones to deal with bullying through the use of their imagination - and a little puffing and prodding of an iOS device.
We'll continue to provide an updated listing each and every month, together with a round-up of the year. For all the up-to-date information on which iPhone games, apps, and publishers are reviewing best, head on over to the iPhone Quality Index now.
