It's been a while since we've made any large-scale announcements for Rooks Keep, but here we are at last! And to go with the update and Greenlight entry, a brand-spanking new trailer is here to set your optic-nerves aflame.
In brief summary, Rooks Keep is a PC-only, 3rd person melee(mostly) deathmatch game, played out in various game-modes. It supports singleplayer, multiplayer and AI, is based on the UDK and features a melee combat system based on various offensive and defensive actions and skills.
Rooks Keep has evolved substantially from it's roots as a Chess game, now sporting an extensive interactive combat played out in free-for-all and team-based deathmatch/arena modes.
Players will be presented with a variety of game-modes, including; Deathmatch, Team-Deathmatch, Conversion, Combat Chess, Classic Chess and more. Up to 32 players can battle it out in the non-Chess game-modes.
The extensive combat system, featuring various attacks, parrying, blocking, upgrade-able skills and more, makes for frenzied gladiatorial brawls.
Rooks Keep also supports online and LAN multiplayer as well as AI support for all gametypes. Also in the mix are an extensive gore system, a wide variety of maps and mod support.
And quite importantly, Rooks Keep is up on Steam Greenlight! So please, spare a smidgen of your time and help us out by voting for Rooks Keep. Thank you! :)

-Who is RuneStorm?:
RuneStorm is a small team of three brothers based in South Africa. We got started modding many years ago in the 90's, but our first public mod release was "Ballistic Weapons" for Unreal Tournament 2004 in 2005. Ballistic quickly grew into one of UT2004's most acclaimed modifications. We later moved into Unreal Tournament 3, with the purpose of developing for the "Make Something Unreal Contest". With that we started work on "The Crucible" mod.
We won a total 10 prizes throughout the contest length, including two 1st prizes, and even made it to the finals.
Rooks Keep is our first commercial project, built on the technology we are most familiar with.
