TEMPE, AZ – September 25, 2013 – Solid State Networks , the leading company focused on the digital deployment of software and online games, today announced the availability of version 3.5 of the company’s DIRECT™ platform. DIRECT™ enables and manages the critical processes involved in digital distribution including download, install, version, patch, launch, and repair.
“Deployment really is the pain point that almost all game development studios and publishers run into,” said Rick Buonincontri, CEO of Solid State Networks, Inc. “The requirements are constantly changing and without a dedicated team, it’s very challenging to stay current. We find that developers of all sizes think they can handle the challenge alone, but we often get a call very late in the process as the reality of developing, shipping and deploying games becomes a reality.”
“We’ve been working on and improving DIRECT for more than seven years and it’s consistently acknowledged as the best solution for online game and software deployment,” said Steve Tucker, Senior Technical Director of Solid State Networks, Inc. “We’re seeing more companies contact us earlier in the development process so they can have the last mile ready to go before the game is finished. It removes a lot of the crunch time stress of taking a game live.”
New features in 3.5:
- Native support for Mac OS – now easily deploy to Mac with the same publishing tools
- Greatly simplified UI development - customization using only HTML & CSS allowing UI designers flexibility and development resources
- Real-time analytics (Beta) - identify deployment issues, including system, network and user errors using a real-time event feed
- App Manager (Beta) – App Manager provides a way for development studios to easily control the distribution and access to builds and environments; Streamlines the QA and internal testing process, significantly reducing potential for user error.
The DIRECT 3.5 solution includes native clients for Windows and Mac operating systems, publishing workflow tools and a reporting system. DIRECT 3 features many specific capabilities required for advanced digital delivery applications, such as versioning, differencing, updating, advanced proxy support, real-time delivery logistics, dynamic payload assembly and the ability to integrate securely with publisher backend systems or third party services. Solid State will announce additional services to be offered in connection with DIRECT 3.5 and support for other operating systems later in 2012.
