Spilt Milk Studios announces new board member – Nicholas Lovell joins as Non-Executive Director!

Spilt Milk Studios – developer of Crunch: The Game, co-developers of the hit iOS game Hard Lines (alongside Nicoll Hunt), plus the upcoming Smash the Block are ever so pleased to announce a new member of the family.

Nicholas Lovell - he of forthright (emphasis on RIGHT) business acumen, informative blog GAMESbrief and speaking-at-many-conferences - has decided to hop on board the good ship Spilt Milk, to help better navigate the challenging seas that are the modern digital games market.

“Andrew has a refreshing approach to building a business. He’s open with the challenges that he faces, he wants to learn through doing, and he does it while keeping a sense of humour. I loved what he and Nicoll did with Hard Lines, and I’m really excited about the two new projects under development. I’m delighted to add Spilt Milk Studios to my portfolio of Black Swans.”

Andrew J Smith – founder, janitor, designer and receptionist at Spilt Milk Studios – agrees:

“Nicholas and I have a healthy respect for each other’s specific areas of expertise. The business side of things has always been the toughest for me to cover in my day-to-day work and as such I’ve found Nicholas to be invaluable. Not just that though; he’s also clever, cunning and he is not even slightly precious or proud of his (well informed) opinions. We talk, we plan, we discuss, and I never get the impression he’s anything other than relishing the challenges we overcome together. Spilt Milk Studios is better off with him on board, and I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds!”

Who is Spilt Milk Studios?

Spilt Milk Studios is run by Andrew J Smith who founded it in early 2010. After a successful career working in the traditional games industry (for example Designing the BAFTA-winning Flock! for Capcom on XBLA, PSN and PC) he decided to go it alone and has regretted it ever since. Only because it’s so lonely working in a shed, though – the bit where he gets to make and sell games he wants to make are still a dream come true.

Who is Nicholas Lovell?

Nicholas helps people make money from games. He is the founder of GAMESbrief, a blog dedicated to the business of games. He is the author of a growing list of books about making money in the games industry and other digital media, including  How to Publish a Game and  Gamesbrief Unplugged. He is a non-executive director of nDreams and his clients include Edge of Reality, Firefly, Rebellion and Square Enix.
