Hamburg, 26 September 2013: It’s a growing young monster: The new startup specializing in games for mobile devices, Mobile Monsters ( www.mobile-monsters.com ), has now successfully entered its second year of operation. The primary drivers for the company’s growth can be found in its focus on Google‘s Android operating system and a sustainable framework for game development and marketing. So far the company has released two games on the “Google play“ store. Over 1,000,000 matches have already taken place during beta phase testing of the new empire-building strategy game, “Kingdoms & Monsters“.
The new startup Mobile Monsters was founded just 15 months ago by four experienced game developers (Bigpoint, Gameforge, Northworks, Arvato Mobile, among others). As developer and publisher, Mobile Monsters has based its game development mainly on the Android operating system, which now operates the greatest number of smartphones and tablets worldwide. The reasons for this strategic alignment with Android and the Google play store have to do with the easy access to information and support, short update cycles, excellent programming tools and, above all, the huge potential for the growth of the games represented by the rapid spread of Android-based devices.
Company founder, CEO and Boss Monster, Julian Hühnermann, sees in the booming Android market a ringing endorsement of his company’s strategic choice to align itself with the Android operating system: “Android is the most important platform for the development of apps and games and has already superseded Apple‘s iOS as the leading platform in terms of range and internationalization.”
The release in March 2013 of the new empire-building strategy game “Kingdoms & Monsters“ marked the new startup’s second release on Google play. This free-to-play (F2P) game only recently finished beta-phase testing and has captivated players with its appealing look, sophisticated economic system and more than 300 different tasks that provide long-term player motivation. These features helped “Kingdoms & Monsters“ attract more than 50,000 players during the beta phase alone.
Mobile Monsters is now ideally equipped to further expand its empire-building and simulation game portfolio. During the first months after its foundation, Mobile Monsters focused primarily on establishing a sustainable framework for future game development and marketing. Using this framework, the development studio can reuse previously created individual design features independently of the game for which they were originally intended. Thanks to in-house developed technologies, a small team working on its own takes just four to six months, depending on the scale of a game, to go from initial design to final release.
“We consciously chose to go with in-house technologies and a lean company structure with flat hierarchies in order to keep us quick and agile. This lets us react quickly and efficiently to changes occurring in the rapidly growing and changing mobile games market,“ says Julian Hühnermann as he describes his startup.
The company’s founders have obtained support with entrepreneurial and management issues from experienced business angels such as Sin-Young Kang (technical advice), Sascha Kaddatz (business development) and Christian Musfeldt (legal). Startup funding for Mobile Monsters was provided by a strategic investor and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.
