1 November 2012: Tandem Events has announced that Palmer Luckey, founder of virtual reality developer Oculus VR, Inc., will deliver the keynote session at the Evolve Conference in London on 11 December 2012.
Palmer’s session, “Virtual Reality: The Holy Grail of Gaming”, will examine how virtual reality technology is finally set to push games to the next level, and will enable us to step inside the games we love for a truly multi-dimensional experience.
Palmer Luckey is the original designer of the Oculus Rift – a groundbreaking, head-mounted display device for virtual reality gaming, which was first demonstrated publicly earlier this year and recently raised over $2.4m USD in a Kickstarter campaign. The Oculus Rift produces a stereoscopic 3-D experience with a huge field of vision—110 degrees diagonally—and overcomes the latency problems that have plagued previous VR gaming headsets, where movement in the game lags behind the movement of the player’s head.
“I’m excited to be able to share my passion for virtual reality at such an influential and innovative conference,” says Palmer Luckey. “Virtual reality has finally arrived and as it matures, it’s going to change games forever. As gamers and developers, we have a lot to look forward to.”
"We're really excited that Palmer is giving the keynote talk at this year’s Evolve in London,” says Andy Lane, managing director of Tandem Events. “The ground-breaking Oculus Rift has been hailed by industry luminaries like Gabe Newell and John Carmack as offering truly immersive and responsive virtual reality for gamers. So we look forward to Palmer sharing a glimpse into the future of gaming."
