Cologne, February 7th 2013 – The Electronic Sports League (ESL) and Activision Publishing, Inc. have partnered to reward the most skilled Call of Duty®: Black Ops II multiplayer teams on the Xbox 360®, Microsoft's premier entertainment service for the TV, phone, PC and tablet, by giving them a chance to represent Europe in the inaugural Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox 360® .
Taking place April 5th-7th in star studded Hollywood, CA, Activision and Microsoft will bring together 32 teams from across the globe to compete head-to-head in the Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox 360® , featuring a $1 million Call of Duty®: Black Ops II tournament purse.
The European teams will be able to stake their place in the final by qualifying through a series of weeky "Go4BlackOps2" online cups (cod.esl.eu), from February 3rd – March 3rd, collecting vital points as they battle it out for a place in the European finals.
The best 16 teams across Europe will then compete in a showdown held at ESL's eSports Valhalla; the ESL Arena Studio in Cologne, Germany, taking place March 16th-17th. There, the teams will fight for the chance to walk away with $10,000, as well as the opportunity to be one of eight multiplayer teams from ESL competing in the Call of Duty® Championship, presented by Xbox 360® , in Hollywood, CA.
