Launched in 1999 and adored by gamers, "Amerzone" has been established as a mainstay of adventure games on PC and Mac with over a million copies sold worldwide. Today, Anuman Interactive adapts its great success on the iPhone and iPad, in episode form, and is aimed at fans of adventure, mysteries and unexplored universes.
The story begins in 1998. Alexandre Valembois, an elderly explorer, is now in the twilight of his life. Too weak, and feeling the end of his life approaching, he convinces a young journalist to go to the Amerzone in his place, a wild and mysterious place the memory of which has haunted him for over 50 years. The journalist’s mission: to bring back the precious egg of the white birds (legendary animals without legs, spending all their life in the skies) that Valembois has had for all these decades. This expedition will lead him to a hostile and fantastic region.
The gamer personifies, with the bias of a first person narrator, the unknown journalist. With the help of an interface adapted to the iPhone and iPad, he can interact with several decoration elements and talk with other characters, to outline the mystery surrounding the Amerzone. In the same way, the gamer acts as a real explorer in discovering several texts, evidence, and images, which enables the shadowy areas to be lifted around the doubtful acts of Valembois, and to list the marvels of this unknown region. "Amerzone - The Explorer’s Legacy" equally requires the gamer’s faculties of observation and reflection in the form of puzzles to solve or mini-games. Specific to the iPhone and the iPad, the game involves a Compass look option". This gyroscope allows the camera to be moved in terms of the movements, to be immersed more deeply in the game. The configuration help system, which can also be activated in the menu, allows the level of difficulty to be regulated for each gamer by making the contextual icons appear or disappear in the game.
Note that the "Amerzone– The Explorer’s Legacy" application is "universal" (it works on both the iPhone and the iPad).
Eric Nguyen, Marketing Director of Anuman Interactive explains:“Amerzone– The Explorer’s Legacy” is a new chance for gamers to (re)discover a classic adventure game, readapted to the functionalities of the iPhone and the iPad. As in previous titles, the ergonomics of the interface has been reworked in order to make the adventure and history accessible to everybody. "Amerzone" was Benoit Sokal’s first great video game success. Henceforth, we are certain that it will undergo once again a great success on the iPhone and iPad, just as it did on the PC and Mac on its launch.”
The conquest of "Amerzone" starts
on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
For this title, Benoit Sokal, Artistic Director of "Amerzone" adds:“I am happy that "Amerzone" continues to impassion gamers after 12 years in existence. Beyond the device, this game is a real human adventure. With "Amerzone - The Explorer’s Legacy ", the gamers can immerse themselves again in the fantastic decorations and rediscover endearing characters. This adaptation also offers the possibility to the youngest people of discovering the story of "Amerzone" on platforms that fit in perfectly with their way of life: the iPhone and the iPad. With all these ingredients, I am sure that the magic will work again.”

About Anuman Interactive
Created in 2000, Anuman Interactive SA is a mainstream software publisher and is a leader in the fields of architecture, the Highway Code and creative activities. As a subsidiary of the Media-Participations Group, Anuman Interactive positions itself as an innovative and dynamic publisher with its flagship video game titles (Trainz, Pacific Storm, Prison Tycoon) and on the edutainment market with the titles Clifford, Casper and Muppet Babies.
Born on 28th June 1954 in Brussels, Benoit Sokal fairly quickly followed a path that led him to the art of drawing and video games.
The first took place in 1978. He created the first of his famous characters: Inspector Canardo. As his name indicates (Canard is the French word for Duck), the eponymous comic strip features a duck, suffering in a world of animals with human traits. Benoit Sokal’s mark is there already: through original universes, he above all dedicates himself to dealing with relationships between ambiguous characters. The success is demonstrated in the fact that as of now, "Inspector Canardo" has been translated into more than 10 languages. In this way, Benoit Sokal establishes himself as a leading creator in this field.
The second turning point came in 1996. Already a pioneer for the use of the computer in his creations, he launched the "Amerzone" project. Since its launch in 1999, the game has been a triumph, with over a million units sold on PC. In 2002, Sokal once again found recognition with Syberia and Syberia 2 in 2004. We can still recognise the signature of Benoit Sokal through his works, which mix fantastic universes and original characters.
Today, Benoit Sokal has perfectly adapted his artistic talent to video games. That is why he is a leader of both comic strips and the adventure game.
Anuman Interactive is proud to have a number of prominent partners for the design of high performance software: Renault, M6, Hatier, Atari, Système D, ParuVendu etc.
Since 2007, Anuman Interactive has also been publishing games for the Nintendo DS, Wii, Sony PSP as well as applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. At the end of 2009, Anuman Interactive acquired the Microïds brand and portfolio, which is known globally for its high quality video games.
