Roubaix , France - 27 April 2011– After several months of closed beta, the MMORPG WAKFU finally opens its doors to all players. They only need to have an Ankama account to play it for free.

From now on, players can:

-       Play the first 6 character classes: Iop, Cra, Eniripsa, Sadida, Ecaflip and Enutrof

-       Learn to master the 25 spells available for each class

-       Try the 16 professions offered, all of which are already ingame: Trapper, Poster, Master of Weapons or Baker... everything is possible!

-       Vote every two weeks to elect the Governor or run for the election

-       Protect or exploit many extraordinary animals or vegetal species: Tofus, Gobballs, Monster plants...

-       Explore the islands of Astrub (the City of Mercenaries), the two nations of Amakna and Bonta, as well as other numerous islands that each nation will have the possibility to conquer and that all have a different ecosystem.

The game will be regularly updated with new characters, exclusive locations and never seen before challenges.

Following the success of DOFUS, which since its creation in 2004 has attracted several million players and made its way into Europe’s top 5 online games, Ankama is developing WAKFU, a new game experience based on the same universe as its predecessor.

WAKFU is an online game with unique political and environmental features, aimed at both experienced players and beginners: thanks to the turn-based tactical fighting system, everyone will discover they have tactician skills.

In the same spirit as DOFUS, WAKFU offers an offbeat humour and plays with numerous cultural references. Only in WAKFU can players explore Tienti Beach, sunbathe on Bilbyza and meet Geror Jugnol or Farle Ingalsse…

In WAKFU, players will be the only ones in charge of the evolution of the world.

From the common citizen to the Governor, all players have an impact on the ecosystem and the political life of their nation. Whether they protect or exploit the natural species, the choice is theirs. And anyone is free to abide to the laws chosen by the Governor or to break them (and take responsibility for the consequences of their actions…).

In WAKFU, the economy is entirely managed by players.

Buying, selling and exchanging items only happens between players (no NPC). To make this system possible, there’s no limit to the number of professions they can master.

The extent of their repertoire of recipes, their network of suppliers and the prices they fix will determine the best shopkeepers.

The game is playable on Windows, Mac and Linux.
