15 th August 2012 – Cologne, Germany – The UK Industry stand at gamescom, managed by Ukie, will support 21 UK businesses with their overseas trade ambitions.
The gamescom show in Cologne is the number one trade show in Europe and the UK industry will be out in force once again this year – but with a new focal point.
Following their appointment by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) as the exclusive ATO (Approved Trade Organisation) for gamescom, UK Interactive Entertainment (Ukie) will be managing the UK Industry stand to showcase the wares of 21 of the UK’s finest games companies.
Stephen McGowan, Head of Events (London), Technology, Innovation and Events Directorate at UKTI said “UKTI is committed to helping UK small and medium sized businesses with their overseas trade activities. Working with Ukie on these key trade shows is a vital part of the wider support we give to the creative industries.”
Ukie CEO, Jo Twist, said: “This is a great chance for the UK games and interactive entertainment industry to show off its outstanding work to the rest of the world. Our stand is a fantastic mixture of up and coming developers and established and expanding businesses. The packages we offered were of particular interest to younger, smaller companies who would have found it difficult to stand out from all the noise. We have helped them find a home of the stand and get a great spot in the business hall to focus on their key meetings. Come and say hello and grab a scone while you are here.”
The UK Industry stand will also play host to two open drinks receptions. Join Ukie and UKTI for beer on Wednesday 15 th from 6pm and Scottish Development International and UKTI for Whisky on Thursday 16 th from 4.30 pm.
The stand is located in the business hall 4.2, stand J051. Companies with representation on the UK stand are –
