Ukie invites games developers to attend tax breaks seminars

28 June 2012 - London, United Kingdom – Ukie has today announced that it will holding tax breaks seminars in Birmingham, Bristol, London and Dundee.

These seminars are part of Ukie’s wider tax breaks consultation programme and aim to make sure that all parts of the industry are informed about how tax breaks might operate and give games businesses the chance to influence the way they will operate when introduced in 2013.

Dates and venues for the sessions are:

  • Birmingham – Birmingham Science Park – 5.30pm, 31 July
  • Bristol – Pervasive Media Studio, 5.30pm, 2 August
  • London – Ukie offices, 3pm, 7 August
  • Dundee – Caird Hall - 4pm, 10 August (to be held as part of the Dare to Be Digital ProtoPlay Weekend)
The events are free and open to all games and interactive entertainment businesses. Interactive entertainment law firm Osborne Clarke will be providing advice during the briefing sessions.

Ukie’s consultation programme will hear opinions from as many people within the industry as possible, to ensure that a tax break is designed to fully benefit all parts of the industry.

Ukie will also be holding individual sessions with a wide cross section of the industry to drill deeper into the key issues. These meetings will start immediately and games companies of all sizes are encouraged to get in touch with daniel.wood@ukie.org.uk if they would like to take part in one of these.

Ukie therefore wants to make sure that the views of the broadest possible cross section of the UK games industry are heard.
