The elite pro gaming tour with second stop in the Chinese metropolis - Guangzhou – 64 of the world's best gamers compete at Anime Comics and Games Guangzhou for over 80,000 US-Dollar in prize money – winners qualify to the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship at CeBIT 2013
Cologne, September 6 th, 2012 – After the successful start of the Intel® Extreme Masters at gamescom, 64 of world’s best gamers attend the elite global pro gaming tour’s second event in the Chinese metropolis – Guangzhou. The Intel Extreme Masters China is an event with global qualifiers and takes part at Anime Comics and Games Guangzhou in the Jinhan Exhibition Center from September 30th to October 4th.
Participants from all Europe, South and North America, Asia and Australia will compete in two of the most popular games in electronic sports (eSports): StarCraft II, a well-known RTS (real time strategy) game, and League of Legends, the world’s leading MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena) game. The eight League of Legends teams and the 24 StarCraft II players fight for a share of the total prize pool for the Intel Extreme Masters China over 81,800 US-Dollars (StarCraft II: 31,800 US-Dollars; League of Legends: 50,000 US-Dollars). In addition to the prize money, the winners of both disciplines as well as the runner-up in StarCraft II will win a spot in the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship at CeBIT (Hanover, Germany in March 2013).
The event will be broadcast online to over 140 countries by ESL TV and ESL China and is expecting to reach over 4,000,000 unique viewers on Twitch and PPlive. The current Intel Extreme Masters season is the 7th season of the tour and started in Cologne, Germany at last August’s gamescom exhibition.
