Atlanta, Georgia - October 16, 2012 - Xaviant, the Atlanta-based developer of the upcoming single player action/RPG title known as Lichdom, announced today that it has purchased a 50 percent stake in another Atlanta-based developer, Blue Mammoth Games. The investment will be used by Blue Mammoth to expand the user base of its side-scrolling, free-to-play MMO title Dungeon Blitz , to further develop the game’s real-time action technology platform, and to finance development of future MMOs created by the Blue Mammoth team.

“This partnership is a huge opportunity for Blue Mammoth. Xaviant gives us more experience on our management team, and the funds to grow Dungeon Blitz and its dedicated user base by providing new content and updates,” said Matt Woomer, CEO of Blue Mammoth Games. “The investment will also help us to aggressively develop more games on the unique MMO platform we've built."

Blue Mammoth Games was founded in 2009 by two game industry veterans, Matt Woomer and Lincoln Hamilton, who have worked together on a handful of popular MMOs, including  City of Heroes, City of Villains, Champions Online, CCP's World of Darkness, and HiRez Studio's Global Agenda. The Blue Mammoth team has also built a platform for the rapid development and deployment of action-based, cooperative MMOs.

In April of 2012, Blue Mammoth launched Dungeon Blitz on Facebook after three years in development. Dungeon Blitz is a Flash-based MMO that combines the casual 2D spirit of Facebook games with the fast action and real-time cooperation of big stand-alone MMOs like World of Warcraft. In roughly six months, the title has had 1.5 million players, and currently has over 600,000 monthly active users. It is listed in the "top rated" and "fastest growing" categories on Kongregate for multiplayer games, and is recognized by Facebook as one of its “highest rated and most used apps”.

“We’ve been looking for a talented team that could expand our portfolio of titles, and we found that in Blue Mammoth Games. They been making MMOs for years, and with Dungeon Blitz, that experience is paying off,” said Michael McMain, CEO of Xaviant. “What’s more, they’ve built an incredible technology platform that will help them and us replicate their success on even more titles going forward. We couldn’t ask for anything better.”
