SEATTLE—November 30, 2011— FlowPlay, a developer of browser-based virtual world technology and games, today integrated its virtual currency, spaces and avatar technologies into Yahoo! Messenger. People on Yahoo! Messenger for Windows can now select the “ourWorld Condo Game” from a list of IM environments (IMVironments) in Yahoo! Messenger and access the more than 32,000 virtual goods in FlowPlay’s catalog to enhance their social gaming activity.
First time users will select from 12 avatar and condo configurations that they can customize through items they earn or purchase from the ourWorld store. Over time they can “level up” through a light role-playing game that is part of the ourWorld experience. In addition to creating interactive IMVironments for Yahoo! Messenger, FlowPlay’s ourWorld is available across Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Games, allowing people to explore and play the more than 200 minigames within ourWorld.
“We founded FlowPlay with the belief that virtual environments and avatars would become the preferred way for people to interact with one another online,” says Derrick Morton, CEO of FlowPlay. “Gamers can easily deploy FlowPlay technology to get a rich level of interaction and engagement, and with FlowPlay on Yahoo! Messenger and Yahoo! Games, we can help bring real-time gaming to an even broader audience.”
